Kal Raman

Kal Raman is the CEO of GlobalScholar, a company that is integrating and aligning all the resources of education – parents, students, tutors, teachers, administrators, and content – to improve efficiency, performance, and educational access both inside and outside the classroom. Prior to joining GlobalScholar, he was the senior vice president of WW hardlines at Amazon.com, where he was in charge of the worldwide hardlines business and the retail technology and online marketing for the company. Raman previously held a variety of jobs at drugstore.com from 1998 to 2004, including three years as chief executive officer. While he was the CEO of drugstore.com, revenues grew 70 percent to $246 million and the company achieved EBITDA profitability for the first time in Q4 2003. As one of the early members of the senior management team at drugstore.com, Raman was involved in building the team/company from scratch and was involved in various rounds of fund-raising, including taking the company public in 1999 (NASDAQ:DSCM). Prior to drugstore.com, Raman served as the CIO of NationsRent, Senior Director of Technology at Blockbuster and as Director of Technology at Wal-Mart. |
